Swami Nithyananda - Sex Tape Published
On 2nd March 2010, Sun TV, an Indian news channel, aired a short scene which shocked Swami Nithyananda’s followers: he allegedly had sex with her. He is a Sanyasi, which in Hindu religion are celibate.
Instead of a statement however, Nithyananda was nowhere to be found for the next few days and neither was the actress which left everyone at speculations. Many disappointed devotees even started rampages in front of his Ashrams. His organization said that the video was a conspiracy against him and after some days finally his statement came: he says he has not done anything illegal.
The police filed a case against him for cheating, rape and various other reasons. One of his former disciples then went to police and admitted that he had made the video to expose Nithyananda, to tell the truth to the world and to protect innocent devotees. He gave them the 2½ hour DVD. There were some accusations of serious rape and other cases of sexual abuse going on in his ashram.
I have been writing about this topic for the last days in my blog, you can see the details here:

And I think there is much more to come in this case.

Updates on this Topic
So here some new news:
The day after the video had been published, Nithyananda's organization and Ashram said that Nithyananda had gone to the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar and could give statements when he would be back... and they still keep this statement up. However now the administration of the Kumbh Mela stated that neither Nithyananda nor anybody of his organization came to the land that they had reserved. Nobody appeared and after the scandal they even cancelled this reservation.
Source: Deccan Herald - Godman’s ilk turn against ‘fake gurus’
Why do he and his organization tell such lies? It is an obvious lie, anybody of the Kumbh Mela organization could say that it was not true! And still he is nowhere to be found...
But although police is searching for him and he doesn't reveal his location, he still gave an interview to talk about everything except the sex video. So he speaks about the controversies whether the land of his Ashram is legally his, about the big amount of sandalwood which was found in his Ashram, about the mysterious death of a Canadian at his Ashram, about the allegation that young people were forcibly kept at the Ashra and more.
Here you can watch the interview: StayTune : Swami Nithyananda Sex Scandal - Denied all allegations
If he talks about it all, why not about the sex tape itself which caused all of his troubles?
We will see when we will hear and read of this again...

As well as he is blaming media, that media is lying about the issue that police is searching him and have filed cases against him. If it is so then why he is hiding himself if all the allegation are lies then just come out in public and say the truth in public in media, not from the hidden places and as he is saying that some people are trying to kill him and that there is nothing going on between him and police and police is not searching him and there are no cases against him and he have fear of death and need protection then go to police to provide you protection. Who can protect him better then police?

Just a nice article that I just found from a man who met Nithyananda before he was called Nithyananda : Express Buzz - The Nithyananda I knew
-
Love that topic - people claiming to be virgins for a lifetime and then enjoying worldly pleasures... well.
But media is now making such a big thing out of this topic it is ridiculous. And not only him, also former disciples: first you do everything this man says and after one video of him doing what you do everyday, everything he ever did or said is wrong. I read today someone wants to file a case against him because he went to him for healing, gave a donation and was not healed. But that was several years ago and now you remember that you feel cheated? come on, leave the man alone, he has enough problems already!
Not that it is not his own fault...
By the way, there is a nice blog about Nithyananda: Truth about the Cult of the so-called Swami 'Paramahamsa' Nithyananda: Organized Fraud

I think the problem from the beginning is that he is not honest.
It is not only about the scandal now, it is about his whole story of enlightenment. You can read on Guruphiliac: 70,000 Miles Of Nothing: Nithyananda Caught In Huge Lie about how he first said that he was on a kind of pilgrimage, wandering for 9 years but after someone did the effort of some mathematics and logic thinking, it turned out that there was not even enough time in his life for that!
I love this graphic which shows the differences between the story how he tells it and real life.
To get back to his honesty - or dishonesty: if someone makes up a whole big story about how he became enlightened, do you really expect him to say that he enjoys having sex, just because that would be the truth? If someone built his image on lies or slight changes of truth and reality and suddenly a video is published and watched all over the world which shows that the truth is different, of course it will be difficult for this someone to just come in front of the camera and admit it. He is not honest and this is how it took him so long to get a statement out.
And now he has published two more interviews:
YouTube - Interview with Swamiji by eminent researcher - Rajiv Malhotra
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TlTipMxTLg
So you can watch that and think what you may, I believe he still cannot just be honest, say what happened and what he did because now it is such a big topic, just as you said Henryfinn. Whatever he will do, media will just grab each sentence and we all will look at it and just think about how he gets himself deeper and deeper into a big mess - but that is what you get from being dishonest.

Now a new development in this case!
According to MSN INDIA , ExpressBuzz and the DNA India , the files that were at the police in Tamil Nadu have been transferred to Karnataka and finally also translated into Kannada, both Indian languages but fully different from each other and there are seven charges against him. Police ' is likely to launch a manhunt for Nithyananda' if he doesn't appear soon. The charges include rape, cheating and defiling place of worship, and some of them are not bailable, so it will be difficult to get away with it for him... especially with this video and the statements of his former disciple and Ashram worker Nithya Dharmananda alias K Lenin against him.
The Deccan Herald even talks about a telephone call that was recorded in which Nithyananda is trying to buy silence from this man.
It will still be interesting what else will come to light in this affair!

There is a lot going on and now with the charges and cases all filed in the right places, investigations are going on and Nithyananda is getting quiet again.
He has given a few interview in which he talked in very different ways about what happened but somehow was never really clear. One time he mentioned being in Samadhi on the video tape, another time he talks about doing an experiment. What kind of experiment would that be?
Well, and then there were some more actresses' names in the media and several of them are said to have been intimately in touch with the Swami. Court however ruled that any kind of videotape found cannot anymore be shown in public media.
And today we receive more news! Now even an American ex-devotee filed a case against Nithyananda. He talks basically about the same things: sex, fraud, cheating etc. but that in his center in California - now he will get more fame internationally, I am sure!

Now Nithyananda resigned from being the head of his organization: BBC Article
The video in which he explains the reasons was uploaded onto his website. I just would like to say that the whole case wouldn't have become so big if he had been honest and could have said right after the tape came out: yes, I had sex with this woman. And that's it.
But he was dishonest and tried to lie in different ways, started hiding first and then told some strange explanations. This is how the whole case looks like and this is why he is now so much in trouble!
In the video he also says that he consulted with the Acharyas, spiritual people, in Haridwar at the Kumbh Mela, however from there media gave notice that nobody saw even a part of his dhoti... And then he wants to go in spiritual seclusion now - a kind of hiding? How long, if you have a case filed against you, can you stay retreated? At the latest when the court requires your attention you will need to get in touch with someone!
It just shows again that honesty is one of the basic and most important things in life.

I was wondering after all that is happening why Nithyananda is still hiding?
There are cases being filed against him but you don't hear any result and don't hear that he gave another statement or that anybody officially also asked him about what happened. Then you could hear that he is searched by police and not found - they declared that he is absconding. The guess is that he is hiding somewhere in North India. The High Court previously had denied his application for advance bail...
I stated right in the beginning that in my opinion he should come out and just honestly say that he has had sex with Ranjitha - so what? Be honest about it, if you love her and it is something serious, some people will still not like it but i believe many will understand! And then today we read the reason why he could not do that either: the 'DNA India' reports after an interview with a police officer that on the 30 tapes that Lenin has given to them, there are six different women!
So if he comes out and says that he had one woman, five more will come into public and complain!
As you can read in this article, the police has difficulties finding witnesses and statements from people there. They have many people talking about Nithyananda cheating on them but not anybody who talks about the sexual abuses and activities that allegedly took place in his Ashram. Not one woman (or man) went to the police to give a statement regarding that.
I can understand that it is hard to get these statements because of Indian culture. It would be brave and courageous of women to come out and give this statement that they had sex with him - society will see this like a stain on their shirt. Even if they get raped, it is very hard for them to accept it in public - or even go in front of media. If this case was in the west, there would be enough women to stand up for this - maybe even some who did not really have sex with him - but in India, society and culture makes it more difficult.
